My Mission
Hi there! My name is Sarah Britz and I’m a certified, insured professional dog trainer and lifetime dog lover. Welcome to my site!
My goal is for both dog and guardian to feel as though they understand one another so you can have a long, happy relationship. Having a dog should be fun and I want everyone to enjoy their dog as much as I enjoy mine!
My biggest passion is helping people start their puppies off right and continue them right – this way you can avoid so many preventable problems, enjoy your dog to the fullest, and of course give the dog the best quality of life possible. That said, I work with older dogs too!
My Qualifications
- Graduate and Certified Training Partner of the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior
- KPA Puppy Start Right Instructor
- 5 years of professional experience with dogs
- 13 years of experience clicker-training dogs for competitive obedience, rally, agility
- I believe in continuing education so I plan to lengthen this list as I go!
- Fun Fact: I’m also a volunteer leader of my local 4-H dog club so I spend spare time teaching children to train their dogs.
My Methods
- Force-free, reward-based only (not strictly food but it is most common)
- I teach the dog what I DO want them to do, not what I DON’T want
- I take into account the dog’s natural needs and emotions
- I often use a clicker
- I break training down into small steps and move at the dog’s pace
- It’s how I train my own dogs and how I train client dogs!
